This flip up front sight is designed to mount to a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail. The sight locks in the up and down position via a spring loaded plunger. The sight is adjustable for elevation. The handguard height style is designed to be mounted on the same plane as the rear sight. No permanent modifications are necessary and all mounting hardware is included.
