Another feature not often mentioned by others but one we take seriously is edging. When you first cut vegetable tanned leather the edges are very rough. Many makers round off the edges and call it a day. We take it a step, actually four steps, further. After rounding off the edges by hand with a beveler, we lightly sand and cover with some saddle soap to soften. Then it’s ran through a burnisher to smoothen out the leather fibers.
