ABOUT This is an adjustable, steel Optometrist stool on casters. The middle hydraulic box has a lever that controls the movement up and down with a screw top that locks it in place. "Shur-O- Standard Optical Co." and "Genothamic" are on embossed in steel on the top of the box. The tobacco swivel, vinyl seat appears to have been recovered later. CREATOR Shur-O Standard Optical Co., Geneva, New York. DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1930-1950. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Steel, Paint, Vinyl. CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. DIMENSIONS H 20-30.5 in. Diameter 14 in. HISTORY This stool was salvaged from a prop company in San Francisco and was probably featured in a TV or film production.
