The beautiful woodblock print, 'Bushu Tamagawa' (View from Tama River in Musashi), is by Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849). It is part of the series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji' (Fugaku sanjūrokkei) and is a re-carved edition. A farmer leading a horse brings home a baby turtle as a souvenir for his children while gazing at Mt. Fuji across the river. Fishermen are also depicted in the inlet. The peaceful rural landscape is beautifully expressed. This edition was published by Yuyudo in the Showa era (the 1980s) and is smaller than the regular Oban size. The print features highly detailed carving and beautiful embossing, reflecting the high-quality craftsmanship of this famous publisher.
