The striking woodblock print 'Senbon Torii' (A Thousand Torii at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kyoto) is by Toshijiro Inagaki (1902–1963). This is one of his popular prints. In traditional woodblock printing, different blocks are used depending on the color to be printed. However, in this print, each color is carefully applied to a single block, creating a mesmerizing effect that truly captures the nuances of Inagaki Toshijiro's style. The artist's red seal, 'Toshi,' is in the lower left corner of the image, and an embossed mark reading 'Ningenkokuho Inagaki Toshijiro sensei saku' (Created by Living National Treasure Toshijiro Inagaki) is located on the lower right margin. Beautiful ink bleed-through on Japanese handmade washi paper Toshijiro Inagaki (1902-1963) was born in Kyoto. He was a well-known Japanese Katazome (stencil dying) artist. He was given the title of National Living Treasure by the Japanese government in 1962. Technique: WoodblockPaper size: 16 and 1/2 inches x 12 and 3/8
