A very fine and large decorative cowroid seal, the top incised with round hooked scroll patterns in four diagonal registers, and the base following the same theme featuring a central scroll design within a double rope border. Medium:  Steatite Dimensions:  Length:  1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) Condition:  Small chip to the base that does not detract otherwise intact and in excellent condition overall. Provenance:  Goddard Du Bois (b. 1869 – d. 1925) and Josephine Cook Du Bois (b. 1864 – d. 1961), New York, acquired in Egypt between 1900 and 1907, loaned & exhibited at Metropolitan Museum NY 1920-40, Boston Fine Art 1945-60, Museum of Man CA 1968 #M112.
