These lovely five-petaled flowers alternate with five stems around a central disc with a hole for attachment. For a parallel example, see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, accession number 1991.169.1–.3.  Such appliqués in the form of rosettes are known to have been used as decoration on wooden sarcophagi in Tarantum. Dimensions:  Diameter: 2 1/2 inches (6.3 cm) Condition:  Minor flaking to the surface, half the stem points lost, otherwise in good condition.  Custom mounted. Provenance:  David F. Hoff, TX (1948 - 2021) private collection and then by descent.
