Chakhar Chenmo ལྕགས་མཁར་ཆེན་མོ།

Chakhar Chenmo, often called the “Great Prayer Festival,” is one of the most important religious events in Tibetan Buddhism. Established by Je Tsongkhapa, the revered founder of the Gelug tradition, the festival is dedicated to collective prayers, rituals, and teachings that generate vast merit for all beings. During Chakhar Chenmo, monastics and lay practitioners gather for days of intensive practice, recitation of scriptures, offerings, and debate all aimed at promoting peace, harmony, and spiritual awakening. The festival not only honors the teachings of the Buddha but also strengthens the bond of the sangha, reminding participants of the power of unity in devotion and compassion.
