I am the Light of the world || art print

In the scriptures we are often taught that Christ is the light of the world, but it hit me differently during a particularly hard and heavy week. Weighed down by emotional burdens, physical ailments, and a multitude of stresses I turned to my two favorite sources for relief.  The studio and the scriptures.  I found myself reading in 3 Nephi where the righteous are experiencing the cataclysmic destruction of the world they knew following the death of the Savior on the other side of the world.  As entire cities were engulfed by sea and earth, the people found themselves wrapped in darkness.  The darkness was such that stars did not shine nor could they even light a fire.  For three days a darkness which the scriptures describe as a physical mist consumed all. Then came a voice proclaiming, "Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. And behold, I am the light and the life of the world."
