The Benjamin Leroux Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot is 100% Chardonnay from vines planted in 1969. Vineyard is in the center of the appellation just below the abbey, on rich clay soil. Whole-cluster pressing, light settling before transfer to 300L barrels (20% new oak), indigenous yeast fermentation. Aged for 18 months. A minerally wine with great finesse, nicely chiseled lemon peel and apple flavors, and plenty of depth.
