Day 102 • The 7th of October
🌄 Day 102/365 Fire rising over the volcano, like it might spark it awake at any moment. (The last time it erupted was around 400 years ago. It’s quiet now but will awaken again.) I listen to the chickens waking up, claiming their territory for the day, and the mourning doves crooning in trees. I saw another owl pass by. I can smell the ocean in the air. There’s a slight chill, for those of us who have acclimated to the tropics, but nothing unbearable, along with the guarantee that it’s about to warm up significantly. The clouds begin to burn away, making room for the rest of the day, which could bring anything from sunshine to thunderstorms. The breeze picks up, warmer now, carrying with it the smell of fresh plumeria from passing through thousands of trees. Feeling very grateful to be here. This sunrise was captured in Kihei, Maui at 6:18am on the 7th of October, 2022. Printed on metallic photo paper. Three sizes available, including a commemorative 16x20 inch print on Lustre paper
