
A Great Japanese Woodblock Print Triptych Utamaro Awaiting the Shower to Stop
This is a GREAT, very beautiful and special Japanese woodblock print triptych “Awaiting the Shower to Stop” from Edo woodblock master Utamaro (1753 – 1806) IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. This woodblock Triptych print is part of many gorgeous, different-styled Japanese woodblock print collections in my family that we are gradually selling. The three panels of this WOODBLOCK PRINT TRIPTYCH are separate. The size of this each panel is 7 3/4 x 12 inches. The artist’s signature is on each panel while the right panel has an extra publisher’s mark at the lower right corner. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. This woodblock print triptych is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the Japanese mulberry Washi paper. As far as I can tell, this woodblock print TRIPTYCH is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I believe this woodblock print triptych is a Showa re-cut, made around 1960s. It is hard to find a Japanese woodblock pri
