
A Great Japanese Woodblock Print Ito Shinsui LIMIT Number Watanabe Publisher Autumn at Rikkyo River
This is a Great LIMITED-EDITION (68/195) very beautiful, and special Japanese woodblock print “Autumn at Rikkyo River” signed by the famous Taisho/Showa Shin Hanga woodblock print master Shinsui Ito (1898-1974) first published by the famous Watanabe Hanga printmaker in January Showa 23, which is 1948 IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I am not sure if this woodblock print is an original or posthumous edition although the blocks are the same. This woodblock print is one of the seventy-year collections of a large number of gorgeous, different-styled Asian art and Japanese woodblock prints from my family. Ito Shinsui belongs to the great masters of the Shin Hanga movement. In 1952 the Japanese government declared his artwork an intangible national treasure, the highest public award a Japanese artist could achieve. The size of this woodblock print is 15 5/8 x 10 7/8 inches. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are at the lower right corner of the print while the title of this woodblock print
