Approaching the "N-Word" in Classic Literature Teacher Guide, relevant articles, and questions for discussion. One of the most difficult aspects of teaching To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, and similar classic texts is how to appropriately and sensitively approach the use of the “n-word” in the texts. This resource provides notes, articles, and questions that are relevant, real, and can spark sensitive, yet powerful, discussions. Two articles are provided - both by Earl Ofari Hutchinson, written in 1998 and 2002. Links to further resources are also provided.
