Amaterasu, also known as Amaterasu Ōmikami or Ōhirume no Muchi no Kami, is the goddess of the celestial sun goddess in Japanese mythology. She is the daughter of Izanagi and Izanami and the sister of Tsukuyomi, Susanoo, and Kagutsuchi. She is one of the most prominent goddesses of Shintoism. The most well-known myth of Amaterasu is the time she hid away in Heavenly Rock Cave after her brother Susanoo defiled her dwelling place. All the gods came together and failed to coax her out of her hiding place until Uzume aided by Omoikane created a commotion by dancing on an overturned tub piquing Amaterasu's curiosity. We chose this bright herbal blend because it is reminiscent of the sun and celestial light of this Shinto goddess. Tradition: Japan Tasting Notes: bright, lemon, green apple Ingredients: pineapple cubes, acidified apple pieces, freeze-dried lemon granules, freeze-dried lemon peel, freeze-dried redcurrants, and flavoring Recommended Reading: Japanese Mythology by Matt Clayton and
