Yosemite National Park
As you head into Yosemite Valley from the west, you are immediately graced with a view of El Capitan on the north side of the valley. Across the flat valley floor and the quietly meandering Merced River, tucked back slightly, sit Sentinel Rock and its Sentinel Falls. The Yosemite Village Visitor Center is at the northern point in the center of the valley, followed by Curry Village further west, Yosemite's historic campground. Looking up from your campsite is Glacier Point, a great viewpoint from the southern rim. The northeastern fork of the valley follows Tenaya Creek. A couple of miles up the creek will give you a fantastic view of Half Dome, one of Yosemite's most memorable landmarks. Note that this map uses two separate data sets at two resolutions. The main section of Yosemite Valley uses LiDAR data provided by NCALM, and downloaded from this page in the National Park Service's IRMA site. Outside of the LiDAR area, we use 10-meter elevation data from the USGS 3D Elevation P
