Introducing "Join or Die" The 2021 4th of July glass is here! 🇺🇸  Join or Die is a political cartoon attributed to Benjamin Franklin published by the Pennsylvania Gazette on May 9, 1754. The cartoon appeared with Franklin's article on the "disunited state" of the colonies and was used to bolster his argument in favor of colonial unity. We traditionally think about the 13 colonies, but in this case, New England's four colonies were represented as one, Delaware was considered part of Pennsylvania, and Georgia wasn't included (the illustration only focused on the colonies that claimed shared identities as Americans). During the American Revolutionary War, the image represented colonial freedom and became a symbol of unity by the American colonists as well as resistance to Parliament and the Crown.
