Kilauea Lighthouse - Historic Lighthouse in Hawaii The Kilauea Lighthouse is located in Cape Kilauea on Kauai, Hawaii, within the Cape Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge. The 52-foot-tall Daniel K. Inouye  Kīlauea Point Lighthouse on the northernmost tip of Kauai was built in 1913 as a lighthouse for sailing ships. Although its lights were turned off and replaced by automatic beacons in the 1970s, it remains one of the most frequented places on the island attractions. Views of the rugged northern coastline and the deep blue Pacific Ocean make this the perfect vantage point for photos. The lighthouse is located in the Cape Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge and is a sanctuary for seabirds.
