Mothman – Variegated – White, Silver, and Grey with Red Speckles According to West Virginia Folklore, the Mothman is a humanoid creature that was reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area from November 1966 to December 1967.  The first reported sightings were from two young couples on November 15, 1966 when police were told about a large grey and white creature whose eyes glowed red.  Linda Scarberry described it as a “slender, muscular man, about 7 foot tall with white wings, but unable to discern its face due to the hypnotic effect if its eyes.”  It was standing at the side of the road, but pursued them as they drove away, flying above their car making a screeching sound. Throughout the next year, multiple additional sightings were reported with claims of supernatural events related to the sightings, culminating in the Silver Bridge collapse on December 15, 1967.
