The Alpine Stud is comprised of Bisbee Turquoise and sterling silver. The earrings come with a sturdy silver backing.  ABOUT THE STONES: Originally opened in 1879, the Lander Pit Mine in Bisbee is one of Arizona's most famous mines. While primarily a Copper mine, some of the finest turquoise in the world was pulled out of the ground in Bisbee, Arizona. The copper content in the ground created turquoise with deep blues and a matrix that ranged from chocolate to "smoky". Artists in particular love to work with Bisbee because it is such a hard stone. The Lander Pit Mine closed in 1974 and Bisbee turquoise has gone on to become one of the most collectible turquoise mines in the world. Note to Buyers: All of Solstice Studio items are handmade and hand-finished. Each piece is one of a kind and you may notice some imperfections. These imperfections give handcrafted items their innate soulful character and appeal.
