2017 Weingut Gross Sudsteiermark Sauvignon Blanc Ried Nussberg

This is the top wine from the Gross estate, hailing from the small single vineyard of Ried Nussberg. The soil is a mixture of clay and limestone and vine age ranges from 15-35+ years. Grapes are carefully selected, hand-harvested, fully destemmed, and macerated for a short period of roughly 3 - 6 hours before spontaneous fermentation takes place in traditional large, oak barrels. The wine is then racked and matured in the same barrels for 12 months, followed by 6 months in stainless tank.
