"At the time this was a largely unremarkable vintage, not as ripe as 97 or 99, not as lean as 96... with nearly three-decades of hindsight, it's proven itself to be a lovely vintage. The wines are well-sized, integrated, with rich and earthy notes - firm acidities. From my tastings, they often present mature, but in a pleasurable, still-fruity way - melon fruit with edgings of tobacco, etc, (Vom Boden)."
