1999 Vega Sicilia 'Unico' Gran Reserva, Ribera del Duero

Vega Sicilia was founded in the 1860’s by Don Eloy Lecanda Chaves using cuttings of Bordeaux varietals, planted alongside the indigenous variety known as Tinto Fino (Tempranillo). In 1982, the estate was purchased by the Alvarez family, who brought with them a modern business approach. The northern boundary of the estate runs along the left bank of the Duero (Douro) and the hilltops of some of Spain’s most prized vineyards. Único is legendary blend of elegance and power that is released at an average age of ten years. Generally 94% Tempranillo, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon.
