The Ordaz family leases and farms the 8-acre Placida Vineyard, a site two miles southeast from the West Sonoma County town of Graton. The vines are tended to organically and the vineyard soils are composed of the well-drained Gold Ridge series that is common throughout much of western Sonoma county. A heritage selection of shot-Wente Chardonnay, that Chuy has been propagating for years, is dedicated to one-acre at Placida. Yields are shy bearing and the resulting wine is built with energy and tension. While Chardonnay is not a primary focus for our program, access to this specific breed of Chardonnay forced our hand to include the Placida bottling to our line-up.
