2023 Château La Rame, Bordeaux Blanc Sec

Located 40 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, Château La Rame is one of the oldest and most esteemed properties in the Sainte Croix du Mont appellation. Perched on a hill overlooking the Garonne River, the estate was once owned by the Baron de Vertheuil, Governor of the Ile d’Oleron, post-French Revolution. Renowned throughout its history, it earned gold medals at exhibitions in Bordeaux in 1895 and Paris in 1900, underscoring its reputation for outstanding wine. When Claude Armand acquired the property, Sainte Croix du Mont had lost favor. However, under the stewardship of the next generation, Yves Armand, the family has worked to re-establish the appellation's prestige, aiming to rival the great estates of Sauternes and Barsac. The 20-hectare estate is set on clay-limestone soil with a unique substratum of fossilized oysters from the Tertiary era.
