
2023 Domaine Moreux, Corty Artisan "Intro", Pouilly-Fumé
The amount of history and pedigree crammed into a bottle of Moreux-Corty’s “Intro” is wild. Domaine Moreux-Corty traces its roots back to Edme Corty, who laid the foundations of the operation when he planted vines in Pouilly-Sur-Loire in 1677. Andre Moreux began farming vines in Sancerre, just across the Loire river, in 1702. The two families merged in 1955 when Jeannine Corty and Raymond Moreux married, combining their already impressive holdings. Jeannine and Raymond’s son Patrice really took the domaine to the next level by upgrading their cellars with temperature control and expanding their vineyard area. Now Patrice’s two sons Arnaud and Julien are in charge of the estate, and they’re relentless in their pursuit of terroir expression. There’s manual plowing in the vineyard, pruning with respect for sap flow, indigenous fermentations, and winemaking according to the lunar calendar.
