2023 I Garagisti di Sorgono, Mandrolisai Rosso DOC "Garage"
Nestled in the mountainous Mandrolisai region in central Sardinia, the vineyards that produce this wine are as wild and untamed as the island itself. Bush-trained (alberello) vines between 40 and 100 years old grow on steep slopes between 480 and 700 meters above sea level in volcanic, white and pink granite-rich soils that impart a distinctmineral character to the grapes. These ancient plants yield small quantities of fruit with intensity and complexity. Hot days followed by cool nights preserve acidity while ripening the grapes to perfection. Hand-harvested in rugged terrain, Bovale Sardo (Muristeddu), Cannonau and Monica grapes are pressed in separate lots in antique wooden presses. Natural fermentation occurs from native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, allowing the wine toretain its bright fruit flavors while showcasing the unique characteristics of its terroir. Unlike most red wines aged in oak barrels, “Garage” spends six months aging exclusively in stainless steel tanks. Bott
