Phaseolus vulgaris HEIRLOOM. A large cornfield-type pole bean with large, round, white seeds. Fatman is a very heavy producer of tender and flavorful 5” pods on 6-7’ vines. There is a lot of documentation of this bean being grown for 100+ years in both Virginia and West Virginia where it remains popular to this day. The information is conflicting about which state it first originated in though. Extremely productive and is delicious as a snap bean, dried as a soup bean, and strung up for leather britches too. Very rare. SMALL FARM GROWN by Peacemeal Farm in Virginia.
