A Length of Kasuri Cotton: Arrow Feathers

early twentieth century30" x 13 1/2", 76 cm x 34.25 cm This is a richly toned, short length of fairly lightweight kasuri cotton which is handwoven in browns, ochres and an off-white. The motif is a variant on the arrow feather pattern, a popular on in Japanese textiles.  The weft yarns show regularly-spaced bands of kasuri striping which add visual texture to this wonderfully-colored short length. There is an ingrained crease from its former use (top, right hand corner) but otherwise it is in good condition. Very handsome.
