MotivMFG is headed by Samuel Wei, founder of Radiance Blue and the pioneer of the heritage market in China; and Daniel Gu, a third-generation tailor and designer. Together, they combine old-world tailoring (from various antique European manuals) with workwear production techniques. Constant research into garment production techniques from around the world inform their designs, with the goal of recreating, as opposed to just reproducing. The Radium Down Jacket takes its inspiration from early iterations of high altitude flight jackets, somewhere between a down puffer jacket and a classic bomber, it features a unique radiant quilting pattern and a large stand collar. The design is ergonomic, with wool "cut-outs" at high movement areas like the elbow that allow for greater ease of motion. It's packed with details otherwise, from the zip pockets and covered snap placket, to the curved hem and modified knit cuffs, a lot of utility is packed into an already very stylish garment.
