Botanical Printing Workshop - August 4th
This summer learn botanical printing at a flower farm in Underhill Vermont. This is a unique opportunity to learn this craft at the farm where the flowers are grown (there is also a pretty amazing view on Mount Mansfield). Botanical printing uses flowers, leaves and other foliage to dye fabric, the pigments are transferred to fabric or paper leaving the impression of the plant behind. The fabric is then steamed to set the dye. In this class you will learn about selecting the best plants for successful printing and different techniques for activating the pigments and tannin's in the plants to achieve different results. You will complete one silk scarf in class and receive instruction on how to repeat this process at home. Imagine practicing botanical printing at home with plants and flowers from your own backyard! Everything you'll need for the class will be provided. Instructor: Hilary Baker @hilary_studiohb Farm: Goose Feather Flowers in Underhill, VT Date: August 4th, 10:00 am to
