Hiding in Plain Sight

I love painting these ground shots that encompass a square foot or so of nature, so much beauty can be found at your feet. I also try to capture a behavior unique to the subject such as this Killdeer. She nests right on the ground by scraping out a small indentation to place her eggs which are camouflaged to look like rocks, brilliant! She also blends in to the surroundings and when noticed will try to draw the viewer away by faking a broken wing. Notice the egg and newly hatched chick in front of her.
