Rare Collectors Item Signed Archival Print on Photo Rag Ultra Smooth Matte Paper Previously unreleased 35mm black and white portrait of Elliott Smith This photograph was taken in the summer of ’98— a day when I met Elliott at his publicist’s office in Manhattan. They had lined up more than a dozen interviewers for him and I was going to get some footage. When I got there he had his head down and he wasn’t talking. He was obviously overwhelmed. I was concerned, so I asked if they could reschedule the interviews and told them I was going to take him to lunch. They said, “you can’t do that.” But I did anyway, and we split out the side door. After getting out of there he said, “now I have to go back to my apartment in Brooklyn with no air conditioning.” So the sound man Jason Mason and I took him to the Holiday Inn where we were staying. We watched t.v., and ordered room service. After lunch and a couple of cowboy movies, Elliott felt better, and actually got inspired and started posing w
