SiS: DARK & GEMMY 9+lb. FOSSIL SEQUOIA Petrified Wood Bookends - Mt. Adams Wash.

This gorgeous set of bookends is cut from an ancient and very antiquated petrified sequoia that was found near Mt. Adams, one of the volcanic peaks in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State.  This stone is much darker and even more agatized than some of the other ancient conifer deposits in the central Cascades.  Thie wood is preserved in an agate that is often heavily weathered on the exterior of the few logs found in the region but cuts into a truly gorgeous, gem grade stone that reveals rich dark color preserving the kinky, flowing wood grain of a truly massive sequoia tree that fell to valcanic activity millions of years ago.  The wood polishes unbelievably well to a mirror like finish which allows both the color and wood grain to be appreciated in their timeless glory.  The outside rind is rough and natural and shows the heavy weathering the stone was subject to before being discovered and cut into the gorgeous pieces you see now.  This fossil wood turned gemstone is one o
