The Ulrich Model is a Human Resources (HR) strategy that tries to organize human functions into four segments within large organizations. The model was created by David Ulrich and published in his book Human Resource Champions: The Next Agenda for Adding Value and Delivering Results. Ulrich claims that the function of HR practitioners must be reinvented to address the competitive challenges that modern organizations experience. The Ulrich model suggests that HR must be viewed as a strategic instrument rather than an administrative function by companies. According to the Ulrich model, HR must perform four critical functions in an organization:  Strategic partner (Strategic HR) Change agent (Transformation & Change) Administrative expert (HR Service Delivery) Employee champion (Employee Contribution) The Ulrich approach moves the emphasis away from resource-intensive bureaucracies and further towards providing value to the business.
