Yabal Striped Messenger Bag

This striking messenger bag is made from handwoven fabric in Black/Brick or Grey/Teal stripe.  Soft brown leather sides, bottom and carry strap.  (Their sewing machine cannot sew a thicker leather!)  Inside has 3 roomy sections  including a padded pocket with zippered top.  Outside one small zip pocket.   Handmade by Maya artists working in a cooperative of over 50 artisans in the highlands of Guatemala.  Yabal means "hope" in the Mayan Quiche language.  This group had to relocate after their entire village was destroyed by a recent hurricane.
