1"One Day" Poster and (Unstretched Canvas print ) sign by Stacy V McClain
“One Day” was the first true oil painting and the largest piece of artwork Stacy V McClain had ever done at the time, 2010. It took him a substantial amount of time to create this painting; over 80+ hours. Stacy had been planning on doing a painting like this for a long time, with influential African American leaders. Stacy just didn't want it to be a collage of people. Stacy wanted it to be a powerful and serious painting, illustrating the strong individuals in this painting. The idea for this painting developed after seeing an old Abraham Lincoln picture. The title arose from the leaders in this painting because they all had a dream that "One Day" things would get better for African Americans. People in the Painting: Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr, Sojourner Truth, W.E.B Du Bois, Richard Allen, Marcus Garvey, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Frederick Douglas, Malcolm X, Booker T.
