Sunken Treasure | 110ml
While it's not secret that all teapots from Chaozhou end up being around 100ml and use a really iron heavy clay(giving it the red color), it still amazes me when one stands out so far among the rest. Even with other pots from Zhang Studio like Wukong's Gourd, Chonk, Whalesong and Sweet Heart. There just seems to be something special that resonates with us about this pot. The gooseneck (or lotus leaf in Chinese) spout is playful and not the purest function forward spout... after all if you were looking for pure laminar function, a stub spout like the one on Hammered would be your best bet. But there are just enough things that make this pot different with the well executed top seated lid, elegant connection from the handle to the body, satisfying squished looking body, with the ever so enjoyable(and tactile) groggy da hong pao clay... that add up to make it a beauty and favorite of the pots coming out of Chaozhou.
