Outside, Must Go
This collection of nine pieces is a symbolic completion, honoring balance and timelessness as it mirrors the symbolism of the number nine. In Chinese, the number nine is pronounced “jiu,” which also means “long-lasting.” As the highest single digit, it represents the highest level of mortal happiness, longevity, and good luck. One digit away from the representation of the higher energy, this collection of nine expressive works uses red hues to convey the outpouring of emotion and expressions before a part of someone dies in order for them to be born anew. In “Outside, Must Go,” AOTH masterfully depicts the wonderment and confusion of childhood. A blue eye gazes out, filled with questioning curiosity amid waves of creativity and the trials of testing and failing. Red tears symbolize innocent ignorance and the scars of remembrance, while vibrant colors reflect the brilliance that life offers to a young mind.
