DESCRIPTION Acrylic and gouache on woodboard and exposed stretchers | 2021 This is a piece I made in my London studio. Using what I thought about and learned in Portugal, I built the same structures to hold a vital symbol of the finish line. It’s iterative, like lots of my work, and formalist. Oftentimes, there’s a process of switch and swap via sketch to see what happens; and if it works - it gets made. This time around, that process of looking for certainty didn’t work for the vast majority of the series - but it did for this piece.
