 Material & Clay The teapot is made from 本山绿 (běn shān lǜ), a rare and highly regarded Yixing clay variety. The surface shows a 梨皮 (lí pí, “pear-skin”) texture, meaning a slightly speckled and sandy appearance that collectors value for its natural character and tactile feel. This type of clay is considered collector’s grade material.   Design & Shape The form is stately and dignified, with a wide, flat body and a flared base that gives it stability. The lid has a soft, tiered dome with a small rounded finial, complementing the low profile of the pot. The handle and spout are balanced and slightly elongated, creating a graceful yet upright and powerful presence.   Function & Craftsmanship The teapot’s flat and wide shape makes it ideal for brewing teas that benefit from quick heat release, such as oolongs or aged sheng puerh.
