Poster shows 1865 patent drawing of Joseph Rogers Brown's Universal Milling Machine. He invented it so he could quickly make any size twist drill. He also used the four-speed, 1,800-pound machine for spiral milling, gear cutting, and other work that previously required tedious hand operations.
