FIXATION BALANSA CLOVER
Trifolium michelianum Savi This newly released clover is a next-level cover crop. The most cold tolerant of annual clovers, FIXatioN Balansa can survive down to -14°F while producing huge amounts of biomass and fixing over 250 pounds of nitrogen per acre. A very vigorous grower, it will reach about 3 feet tall while branching out and spreading laterally with rangy stems up to 10 feet long. Underground its branching taproots can penetrate up to 18 inches in a mere 45 days to break up hard clay and greatly improve drainage. The crop can be grazed or mown for hay, and its flowers are powerfully attractive to pollinators. This exceptionally resilient variety is tolerant of drought, heat, cold, shade, acidic soils, and wet soil (including short durations of flooding). Since its seeds are relatively small, 5-8 pounds of seed will plant one full acre. Pre-inoculated.Available only in the contiguous US.
