In 1966, Billy "The Kid" Scott was only seventeen years old when he won the Gas Dragster Class at the “Hot Rod Magazine” meet at Riverside Raceway. The Gas Dragster of Adams, Rasmussen & Scott was the car to beat on any So Cal Track. Gene Adams long known for his engine building prowess in Top Fuel and holding the record at 7.42 also had a gas-burning car. While gene concentrated on the Adams, Warye & Mulligan Top Fueler, 25- year-old teammate John Rasmussen took over the tuning job on the Gas car. Billy “The Kid” (as he was affectionately known) was already a seasoned driver having started racing midgets at the ripe old age of 6.
