
"Willy Hang On!" Marcellus & Borsch "Winged Express" Fuel Altered.... Drag Racing Art

Other sports have heroes, men that become memorable stars and go down in history, and that's also true with Drag Racing, with one exception. In the Golden Age of Drag Racing, the "Cars were the Stars!" and the subject of this painting is a perfect example of that. I would rank the "Winged Express," in the "Top 10," if not the "Top 5" in the "All-time Iconic Figures" in Drag Racing. Some cars don't just "set the standard," they are the standard. The 'Winged Express" was built in 1964 by Nick Harrell, Phil Johnson, and John Muse, with Willy Borsch at the controls. The car was continually upgraded raced for the next 4 1/2 years until a new car was built in 69. After 1966, the car was sold to "Mousie" Marcellus, and the team of "Marcellus & Borsch"
