A large enclosure with plenty of places to hide, burrow, dig, and gently slopes for climbing are recommended. Hotspots as high as 100 degrees are utilized and humidity spikes throughout the day are preferred. Since these lizards are omnivores it is very important to utilize plants that when ingested, provide beneficial nutrition and are not harmful or toxic. We love to grow healthy edibles in their vivariums, such as mint, basil, oregano, hibiscus, cabbage, kale, and spineless opuntia.  This allows them to forage as nature intended.
