The doum palm, also known as the gingerbread tree, grows throughout the Turkanalands, and produces long leaf stalks that can be harvested regularly for basket weaving. Since trucking the baskets down to Nairobi can be a complicated process, baskets are made as a nesting set to efficiently preserve space. These durable storage baskets are crafted to serve beautifully in any room of the home for years.  Because these are handcrafted baskets, each may vary slightly.
