Lemon Tetras General Background Lemon Tetras are a popular school fish that is known for their brightly colored fins that give them their 'Lemon' name. Like most Tetra species, Lemon Tetras like to be in groups of at least 6 and will swim together in tight schools. Lemon Tetras will grow to be about 2 inches in length once fully grow and have been known to live for up to eight years under ideal conditions. Lemon Tetras prefer larger tanks with plenty of space to swim with their school and some will say that planted tanks allow for their colors to pop even brighter. Tankmates Lemon Tetras will obviously prefer their own species as ideal tankmates. They thrive in small groups of other Lemon Tetras that they can school with. Other types of fish that they can be placed with are also small in size and docile. Ideal tankmates include other Tetras like Neon Tetras, Glo Pristellas, and Bleeding Heart Tetras. They can also be paired with other species like Guppies, Mollies, Platies, Corydoras
