Paleatus Corydoras General Background Paleatus corydoras (or the peppered cory catfish) is an excellent addition to many tropical freshwater aquariums. A beautiful catfish, the peppered cory prefers to school in groups of five or more. The fish has a striking appearance, with a tan body and silver, blue, or black spotting or striping. Expect your peppered cory catfish to inhabit the bottom of your tank, feeding on flake, wafer, or pellet foods. Paleatus corydoras has a reputation for peaceful behavior, with adult members growing to around 2.5 inches in length. The peppered cory catfish originated in South and Central America. However, most of the peppered cory catfish you’ll find today are tank-bred, not specimens from the wild. Peppered cory catfish prefer 12-gallon tanks at the minimum.
