Obv: A cypher R & Co, Beehive and bees above, MACCLESFIELD. (above). Rev: Female seated with mining tools, HALF HALFPENNY. (above), 1789 in exergue. Edge: Milled. Uncirculated and mostly fading red with some original flash and lustre. Proof-like. One tiny reverse spot. Ex. Wayne Anderson. Scarce. The ‘Half Halfpenny’ was thought to attract buyers of tokens that would see the familiar design from the Halfpenny series and thus be more likely to but them.
